About This Role

About OctoHorizon At OctoHorizon, we are pioneering advanced algorithmic strategies in the world of high-frequency trading (HFT). Our team of researchers and engineers pushes the boundaries of digital exchange trading through mathematical precision, cutting-edge infrastructure, and speed-focused innovation. We specialize in identifying ultra-short-term inefficiencies across markets by combining deep quantitative research with high-performance systems. We offer a fully remote, high-autonomy work environment where results speak louder than titles. Our culture values independence, responsibility, and engineering excellence. Role Overview We are seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance infrastructure to support our global trading operations. You will play a critical role in automating deployments, monitoring mission-critical systems, and ensuring the resilience, speed, and security of our infrastructure. This role involves close collaboration with researchers, developers, and infrastructure specialists to streamline workflows, reduce latency, and support a high-uptime, low-latency production environment. This is a fully remote position, open to candidates globally. We value outcomes over hours and location. Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid development and deployment. • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize live systems to ensure high availability and low latency. • Manage cloud-based and on-premise environments across a variety of global locations. • Work with the engineering team to ensure secure, repeatable, and scalable system architecture. • Develop tools and dashboards for system observability, including logs, metrics, and alerts. • Harden systems for security and data integrity across internal and external environments. • Contribute to disaster recovery, incident response, and business continuity planning. Required Skills & Experience • 3+ years of professional experience in a DevOps, SRE, or systems engineering role. • Strong proficiency with Linux systems administration and networking fundamentals. • Proven experience with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid environments. • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD). • Solid knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes). • Experience with IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent. • Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, Bash, or similar). • Ability to work autonomously in a remote, fast-paced, and globally distributed team. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in high-performance, low-latency environments. • Exposure to infrastructure for high-frequency trading or real-time data pipelines. • Familiarity with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK). • Knowledge of security best practices for DevOps (e.g., secret management, RBAC). • Experience with versioned infrastructure, GitOps workflows, or automated testing pipelines. • Comfort with time-series databases and real-time monitoring tools. What We Offer • Fully remote role - work from anywhere with a stable internet connection. • Direct impact - your work supports live trading systems in production. • Access to cutting-edge tech and performance-oriented infrastructure. • Flat and collaborative team - high autonomy and ownership. • Competitive compensation with performance-based bonuses. • A culture of speed, precision, and continuous improvement. How to Apply If you're passionate about performance, reliability, and building scalable systems - and want to work in a high-impact environment - we d love to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a short cover letter or portfolio highlighting your most relevant work.
